Com :: Mayflower

So then~ first thing done for these summer vacations. And hopefully I'll get all my commissions and sketch requests done within these two weeks of loneliness and boredom... xD
So here goes my commission for *jayfoxfire who requested me to draw her Hedgecollie character Mayla.
I already had the idea to draw a character with a giant flower a bit earlier, so for once I was happy that Jay let me do whatever I wanted to do and I thought this idea might fit Mayla pretty well. Generally I started drawing this picture a while ago.. I think only shortly after I got her payment. But due to a lot of school stress I never got the time to finally start coloring it. So I started right on my first day off school which was Wednesday, and finished it today.
I'm pretty happy with the coloring even though on some parts it looks somewhat sloppy done, i don't know... o ô
But heck, I hate shading red with my colored pencils.. -.-''
However, already during sketching and inking I always forgot that she has a green stripe on her face, just when already having colored the face I looked at it and thought "somehow.. this looks soo different to the original.... just what it is? O_o" ... and suddenly I noticed that green stripe. xD Being too lazy and too scared of screwing up the whole picture, I didn't draw any extra separation line but simply erased some of the teal and drew with green on there. Doesn't look wrong either.

The background was more or less a coincidence when playing around. Removing the white around Mayla I noticed that the black bordner behind had an interesting shape, so I added some more flower brushes to make it look even better.
Before this background I had the same thing but only in blue, but I somehow thought it didn't fit the whole thing that well, so I played a bit with the colours. Looks somewhat better now I think. Looks more... natural~ xD
