Birthday Gift for *Chibi-Metal

おすしを食べよう。　いただきます！

General Information:

Wohooo~ just in time! It's midnight around here in Germany, so that means somebody's having their birthday JUST NOW! : D
Back when *Chibi-Metal made a poll about which character to choose for her Valentine's Day picture, I already voted Shana saying that she gets way too little love. So it was quite obvious to me who I had to choose for a birthday gift for her. : )
I personally don't even know if Shana likes sushi, but I know that Anne does, so I couldn't resist making use of it. After all I HAD to make use of the rare opportunity of me having some instant flash of inspiration! o:
In addition to that I couldn't resist drawing something spring themed~ *in love with spring* ;w; Originally, Shana still wore her normal outfit, but then I wanted to draw her with those kind of sandals and decided that a kimono instead might look quite well, plus it would give me a nice opportunity to try drawing one for the first time ever. Actually I also wanted to add some nice design to it, but I lacked time and would've failed that anyway~ x'D

Drawing Process & Details:

That random flash of inspiration I previously mentioned actually happened while I was at work. So that's also where the sketch for this was created. Drawn with a red pencil on a sheet of my checked paper I usually have with me there for all kinds of purposes.
I actually wanted to challenge myself a little with this one, or, to be more exact, I wanted to try out new stuff and finally manage to handle it. I'm talking about things like bushes, trees and clouds. They've always been a pain for me to draw and this time I finally worked on them a little harder, trying to figure out how they might look best. So far, I think it worked out pretty well, although some of the bushes don't appeal to me as much as others... =w=; it's a matter of luck I guess. :'D
Something I was procrastinating with all the time was drawing the sushi box and its content. I was so damn afraid of it, but in the end it actually went pretty fast and it was a whole lot of fun to do for some odd reason. The only thing bothering me is that the sushi seems to be a little small compared to her hands/chopsticks, doesn't it?

As far as this we go! I don't know much more to write at this point anyway. And it's LATE! D: Gotta get up early tomorrow for my single lesson of Japanese.. ;^;
Can't wait to meet you afterwards!! >w<; Have some awesome hours of being 20 until then, but don't start the big party without me! : D
